I've discovered an incredibly bright doctor/athlete I'd like to introduce to you:  Dr. Peter Attia.

I've always been interested in the topic of longevity and you will want to learn more about this guy!

Specifically, you can start by listening to his podcast The Drive.

And in particular, the episode I want you to start with is this one: Estrogen Matters~

Perhaps you - especially if you are over 50 - remember the Women's Health Initiative Study, and how it came to a screeching halt with the advice that those of us who are post menopausal not take estrogen.  At the time this study came out, I was on generic estradiol, which I'd been taking for a few years following my hysterectomy and oophorectomy at 38 due to fibroids and painful endometriosis.

I love how the three docs on this episode talk about how women have been ignored, under treated and taught to 'just suck it up'.  What is scary to me is the potential value I've been missing since I stopped my estradiol due to the fears.  I didn't have major discomfort with sweating or sleep disturbance, but I have other concerns related to things like heart health, bone health and more that estrogen might positively impact.

Dr. Attia doesn't allow advertising on his show, which is his sincere attempt to not be biased by the Benjamins!  Listen closely as their critical thinking may get you thinking about your hormones and what if anything you need to reconsider regarding use of them as you age.

Stay tuned for part II where I'll share some highlights.  It's two hours, unfortunately so it's a bit to weed through!
