I was talking with a good friend the other day about his business. I mentioned my contrariness about it. This is when he says I'm in Barbarella mode! I reminded him my three top time management secrets and it reminded me too the old saying,
A stitch in time saves nine.
We live in a world today where faster is seen as better, too often. Yes, in some instances it is. When I'm playing an opponent in a pickleball tournament, my ability to hit the ball very fast at a strategic moment - and not hit it into the net - is valuable.
But for most of the minutes of our lives, speed is tyranny.
When you are 'addicted to' without realizing it rushing, you eventually get sick. When you rush, you tend to make more errors. Hence what I said above about one of the big 'risks' with rushing.
Go slower and I'll bet you find greater happiness AND less risk. No, maybe you won't get there exactly on time (and if it's not actually 'costly' - yes there is latitude here I'll give you that - or not life or death why get upset about it?).
So what, exactly, does 'in time' mean? People use “a stitch in time saves nine" to express that it's better to spend a little time and effort to deal with a problem right now than to wait until later, when it may get worse and take longer to deal with. Many believe procrastination — putting off doing something until later — creates more work in the long run.
